The Southern Marin Fire Protection District is seeking candidates for an Eligibility List (to be considered for prospective open entry-level and lateral firefighter/firefighter paramedic positions).
To be considered for this position, you must successfully pass the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) entry level firefighter written exam and be placed on the FCTC statewide list. Please visit www.FCTConline.org to register for an upcoming exam and to learn more about the exam process, requirements and scheduled exam locations/dates. The Southern Marin Fire Protection District will receive a list of candidates from the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center and will notify candidates of their eligibility to apply for this position with the first-round interviews targeted for early December 2018 and an anticipated hire date of April 2019. Entry level posting will open on 11/5/18 and close on 11/22/18 at 5pm.
To be considered for this position, you must have 12 months' consecutive full time paid firefighting experience in the last year in addition to qualifications below.
Lateral hire posting will open on 10/15/18 and close on 10/31/18 at 5pm. As a Firefighter or Paramedic for the Southern Marin Fire Protection District, you will embark on a physically challenging, exciting and rewarding career. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who are dedicated to community service, have an aptitude for the diverse work performed in the fire service, and who demonstrate the qualities expected of today's fire service professionals.
Examples of Duties
Responds to and performs skilled tasks at the scene of incidents involving illness, injury, fires, rescues, environmental hazards, hazardous materials, vehicle accidents and other situations which may involve threat to life or property; inspects, drives, operates and performs maintenance of vehicles and other fire equipment; conduct business and residential inspections, performs public safety training and education; maintains fire stations; participates in training programs; other related duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits
Salary negotiable for lateral transfers
Up to 10.5% of monthly salary based on education.
Southern Marin participates in the Marin County Employees' Retirement System (MCERA)
Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, LTD, and LTC insurance.
Vacation Leave ranges from 7 to 13 shifts per year based on years of service.
Sick Leave is 6 shifts per year.
Deferred Compensation Plan
The District participates in a 457 deferred compensation plan and contributes an amount equal to 5% of the employee’s salary.
