Check In/Check Out
Articles and content can only be edited by one administrator at a time.  Sometimes, an article will remain checked out.  Click here to Check-in all articles if an article is locked, and you are certain another user is not editing.


Add/Edit Content

Editing Pages
To edit a page (also called an "article"), navigate to the page and click on the "edit" icon (edit icon), located below the editable content.  The editing interface

Sidebar and Header Content
Content in the sidebars, headers, and footers is automatically generated .  To edit areas outside of a page's main body, contact an administrator with knowledge of the site's structure and back-end access.

News (Blog) Articles
To add a news article (also called a "blog post"), click here.

Remember that a MailChimp newsletter will be sent to all subscribers at 5PM on any day that news is added to the website/blog.

Add/Edit Documents

Documents (PDFs, Excel, Word, and others) can be displayed on the website using several techniques, depending on the use and intent.

In the body of an article
Documents can be inserted when editing an article using the "insert document" function ( edit file icon click this icon in the editor). 

As an "attachment"
An "attachment" is a document that is attached to an individual page or article. Attachments are be displayed on the same page in a table at the bottom of the main content (example, Agendas).  This is the simplest and fastest method for placing a document on an individual page.  The user can choose what text should be displayed in the document attachment link, and can easily edit or delete the attachment if necessary.  Click add attachment icon at the bottom of any article.

Use the "attachment" function, above.  Agendas are typically added monthly, and deleted once a meeting's minutes are posted.

Navigate to the page for the surrent year.  When logged in, there is an "Upload Files" above the list of files and folders.  Click this to upload to the current folder.

Board of Directors

The District is governed by a seven member Board of Directors. Members of the District Board are elected by the residents and serve four year terms. The District Board meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Headquarters Fire Station, 308 Reed Blvd, Mill Valley. We encourage the public to attend and participate in District Board Meetings.  



Kurt Chun

thumb chun2012Kurt has been on the Board since 1991. He is a native of San Francisco Bay Area, raised in Mill Valley. He currently resides in the Homestead Valley area of unincorporated Mill Valley. Kurt Attended San Francisco State University, and the University of California Berkeley with a major in Education and Vocational Studies. He  recently retired as a Fire Captain from the City of Berkeley Fire Department with greater than thirty years in the fire service.

Cathryn Hilliard

thumb hilliard2012Cathryn has been on the Board since 2009 and is a resident of the Tamalpais Valley area of unincorporated Mill Valley. She is currently the Executive Director of the Construction Industry Force Account Council (CIFAC).  Before joining CIFAC in 1997, Hilliard was Director of Government and Public Affairs for the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) for 10 years. She was also a government and public affairs consultant whose clients included; the City and the County of Los Angeles, Chevron Corporation, McDonald’s, Wahl Instruments, and the National Education Media Network. Hilliard set up a one-stop location filming permit center in Hollywood to help keep the motion picture business in California. She also worked in both houses of Congress as staff for Indiana Senators Vance Hartke and Birch Bayh and for Congressman Winfield Denton of Evansville.

Her professional and charitable affiliations included being president of: the Bay Area Public Affairs Council, American Society for Public Administration, Bay Area Chapter, and the UCSF Auxiliary. She is also a current member of AAUW, LWV, Marin Women's PAC and the Tam Valley Improvement Club. Hilliard received her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Cal State University East Bay. She also has a management certificate from Cal Berkeley.

martin_langeveld_SMALL.jpg Martin Langeveld

Martin has been on the board since April 2013. He grew up in Mill Valley and graduated from Tamalpais High School. He served as an intern for the Southern Marin Fire District and plays an active leadership role in the district’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program. Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California, Davis and was recently hired as a police officer with the Marin Community College District Police Department.

Tom Perazzo 

thumb perazzo2012Tom has served on the Board since 2012. He is a Sausalito Resident. Tom is currently employed as a Safety and Risk Consultant. Tom is currently a member of the Sausalito Disaster Preparedness Committee, Sausalito Volunteers in Public Safety, National Fire Protection Association, American Society of Safety Engineer, Native Sons of the Golden West and the Golden Gate Tall Ships Society.

Peter Van Meter

thumb Van Meter 9 12Mr. Van Meter was appointed to the board to fill a vacancy in June 2012. He is a 38-year resident of Sausalito, former City Council Member, and was active in the efforts to construct the new Fire Station 1 and annexation of the city to the district. He is a corporate trainer with extensive experience in real estate, finance, engineering and computer technology. His term expires in November 2013.

Stephen Willis

thumb willis2012Chief Willis and his wife Arliss have been residents of Sausalito since 1968. He served the majority of his 33 years with the City of Sausalito as a police officer, retiring in 2000 as Chief of Police and Fire Services. Since retirement, he has worked as a police and fire consultant. He also has served as an interim police chief on 6 occasions with 5 different cities. He was appointed to the SMFD Board in July of 2012 after Sausalito merged with the district. He is a past president of the Sausalito Rotary Club where he has been a member since 1988. He and his wife are very active in the community.
